Batteries 2030+ Building the roadmap for inventing the batteries of the future

The need to achieve green sustainable rechargeable batteries with the highest possible energy and power content, in addition to a long life, is of utmost importance to reach the goal of a fossil-free society. The long-term BATTERY 2030+ initiative has drafted a long term roadmap, including propositions for future research and innovation actions. A full version of the roadmap will be submitted to the European Commission at the beginning of next year.

Join us and contribute to shaping the long-term research efforts on a national and European level. Your input is essential to define the way forward. During the workshop, all stakeholders of the battery value chain in Europe will have the possibility to discuss and provide input on the current status of the roadmap for long-term battery research.

After a general presentation positioning the Battery 2030+ initiative in the European landscape, more specific exchanges will be organised to discuss the main research areas that have been identified to address the challenges and opportunities for Europe to develop next-generation batteries:

  • Accelerated discovery and design of battery materials and interface
  • Smart sensing and self-healing functionalities
  • Manufacturability and recyclability

The discussions will also target the need for additional long-term research areas.
